Pretty rigorous and tiring, it's wasn't as intense as some other companies but there is at least an online test, a group interview/ interactive half day, and then an individual interview.

Pretty standard for engineering hires with a several rounds of testing, i.e tests, phone interview and in person interview.. These do however take a great deal of time, and can be pretty time demanding when you are applying for several jobs.
Professional, Brisbane
There is a long assessment and interview process, with 2 assessments, 1 one way interview and up to 2 face-to-face interviews.

It was interesting, fun, and gave a great insight into the type of work I'd be doing.

Can't quite remember but I thought the group interview/ assessment center has an interesting approach
Graduate, Sydney
Very thorough and used to weed out candidates however upon review of assessment of candidates required for individual roles it seems the selection process can be quite biased.
Graduate, Melbourne
I applied through the graduate program and then did the online one way interview. After this process was invited to an online assessment centre (during covid but believe they are back to in person) where we did a group activity in a break our room and then had a short 10 minute one on one interview.
Early Professional, Brisbane
One way interview, testing, assessment center (online but only due to Covid)

So I joined as an undergraduate where I had an online application (CV and cover letter), then online assessment, phone interview and then video interview.

The interview process was better than most I experienced and my interviewer friendly and really great to chat to. It was part of the reason I took the role over others.

Not really any technical questions they mostly wanted to know if you will be a nice fit with the team/culture. Asked a lot of previous experience in regard to different situations in order to understand your soft skills i.e., time management, conflict resolution.
Graduate, Sydney
What are your aspirations? Where do your skills lie? How do you work with others?
Graduate, Rockhampton

We were given a scope for a job and were asked to work as a team to come up with a pitch for the client. We then pitched this to the team of interviewers. Afterwards we were spoken to one on one and questions were mostly about your hobbies and any work experience you have, and how this may help working in a fast paced environment.
Professional, Brisbane
The questions were loosely based around project management, personal management, interests, etc.
Graduate, Newcastle
In addition to standard interview fare (describing previous challenges, aspirations etc.) we were given scenarios and asked to analyse them in small groups.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
It would be good to get in contact with someone at the company to get advice. AECOM gives opportunities to people to experience a few months with other disciplines so being excepted to a position doesnt keep you stuck in one team.

gain volunteer experience or take part in work placement or internships to increase your chances of being hired.

Review the website and learn about the project the company is/ has been involved with. Note that they have sustainability and safety focus. Be confident!
Graduate, Newcastle
The interviewing strategy required candidates to show their skills and abilities in collaboration and analysis, rather than just tell the interviewers about them. I'd recommend candidates ensure they don't dominate group activities and that they incorporate others' ideas and suggestions, as working well within a team is one of the most highly sought attributes.
Professional, Brisbane
Bring your best self to the table. Don't underscore or underestimate what you know.
Graduate, Melbourne
Just be yourself. Don't worry too much about technical knowledge, while it is useful it is best to be able to communicate well and work as a team

Companies don't expect you to have all the industry experience when applying. they are more interested in what you've learnt in your experience, not what the experience was.
