7:00 AM

I wake up, take a deep breath, ask myself if I’m mentally prepared for the day and check my meeting calendar for today. If there are no 8 AM calls, I spend some more time in bed.

8:00 AM

I get a cup of coffee and check my emails for any new exciting potential projects I could work on. This week’s opportunity is to provide a Cycling Infrastructure Solution to the Estate Manager of a Central Business District. A mobility-based project is not too common here, so I imagine all the awards and bonuses I’ll get if I win this. I snap back into reality and realize I have a long way to go.

9:00 AM

I get my Personal Protective Equipment and the company drone and go on-site to take some drone shots.  I check if the airspace is clear, then make sure the footage looks great. I forget my Health and Safety training take a drone a selfie.

I get to the office, say hi to my office plant, and upload the footage for the Hong Kong team to review and present to the client.

11:00 AM

I have a catchup meeting with my Building Information Management (BIM) Group. They’re facing some challenges right now in the quality of the Architect’s models. I help them through some of the issues and wish them luck in their coordination meeting later.

12:00 PM

I enjoy my lunch watching my favorite youtube shows. There are lots of exciting and healthy food options in the mall nearby, so the roti with veggie curry is my go-to.

1:00 PM

I try not to fall asleep and with another cup of coffee I do some focused work. I dive into all the documents for that Cycling Infrastructure proposal by checking the material the Australia team gave me yesterday, checking what’s available in the company portal, and even just watching youtube videos about it. I send it out to the boss man for review.

3:00 PM

I join weekly coordination for the main project I am working on with a couple of Project Managers. It’s an office renovation for a global bank. Today’s meeting is with the Facilities Manager and we’re discussing ways to meet the bank’s regional mechanical ventilation requirements. Because of covid, engineering standards now require a higher amount of fresh air. The challenge is that our existing building can’t handle this new requirement. We work through a plan and will regroup next week once we have a study ready.

4:00 PM

Surprise! there’s a technical issue with one of the plans our architect released for the office renovation project. I work through the issues with my co-PMs and I give our architect an angry call. It gets heated. I’ll have to discuss this with the bank owners next week.

5:00 PM

It's one of those days again… I make a list of tasks I still need to do today and try to finish as much as I can.

6:00 PM

Boss sends me an email, said great job on that proposal. I shut down my laptop and go home, excited to be the one presenting to the client next week.
