A lot of decarbonization projects in the works right now
Graduate, Perth
Obviously being a mining company its hard to reduce environmental footprints. BHP has a target to be carbon neutral by 2050 but I feel like theyre lagging behind FMG who has a really strong commitment.
Graduate, Perth
It's a mining company so unfortunately comes with a decent environmental footprint, although transitions towards carbon neutrality are good to see

Not talked about so much at a frontline level

They are always looking for ways to reduce carbon footprint.

In the grand scheme of things I think minimal. We mine resources, you can't do that without destroying the land. A lot of people don't understand that without mining, then we can't build anything. If they really cared, they'd canceled and updated those old EA environmental agreements and start putting money away for rehabilitation
Graduate, Brisbane
Increasing number of studies specific for environmental impacts.
Graduate, Adelaide
Lots is spoken about but unsure how serious its taken in individual areas
Graduate, Olympic Dam
The company is in the process of a number of renewable/circular economy initiatives, and environmental incidents are taken seriously.
Midlevel, Newman
Environmental footprint seems to be the lowest of all priorities on site. Enivronmental improvement projects are conducted to avoid penalties and bad publicity rather than any positive reasons.
Graduate, Winchester
Some decarbonisation projects in the works, but no real clear projects that I am aware of that target reducing environmental footprint.
Graduate, Olympic Dam, Roxby Downs
The company has invested in improving emissions reduction and electrification
Graduate, Newman/Perth
Difficult due to the nature of the industry but the efforts are there.
Graduate, Perth
Have target and goals, but haven't seen these implemented on my site.

BHP has a big drive to decarbonisation
Graduate, Perth (Pilbara region)
BHP is aiming for net zero by 2050. There are sustainability plans in place to reduce GHG emissions by a certain percentage each year and trialing autonomous vehicles to reduce emissions.
Graduate, Adelaide
Improving all the time, becoming more of a priority. Offering waste management system, automatically turning off lights
Graduate, Perth
Have net 0 carbon emission goals for FY50
Graduate, Perth
Great recycling facilities in the office and timed automatic lighting
