Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Collegiate culture in the office. Good social culture at the junior level. The social committee do a good job organising firm events.
Midlevel, Adelaide
The culture is quite good. Most people are very approachable and make themselves available if you have questions. People are almost always happy to assist you and work in a collegiate manner on tasks where required. There are a number of activities that are organised for out of hours, such as Friday night drinks, quarter events, the EOFY party and the Christmas party which gives the team the opportunity to connect.
Midlevel, Melbourne
There is quite a flat structure here which I would attribute to the low ratio between junior lawyers and senior lawyers. The people here generally all are quite laid back and don't take themselves seriously which helps with the teamwork and cooperation.

Good social elements. Comfortable atmosphere. Fluid hierarchy. Teamwork and cooperation is encouraged.

Terrific internal culture. Junior staff are free (and encouraged) to engage directly with partners. High degree of professionalism and emotional intelligence across the firm.

Generally we have a fantastic team in the Adelaide office - everyone seems to get along really well. My only concern is that we currently do not have any female partners based in Adelaide.
Midlevel, Adelaide
Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. It is expected that you work hard but hours are not set and most are flexible with both hours and WFH arrangements. There is good office morale, people are respectful, and everyone in the firm enjoys spending time with each other

Everyone is lovely to work with in the office. You can have a chat with anybody and everyone is always willing to help you out whenever you need.

JWS' non-siloed structure fosters a culture of cooperation and teamwork. JWS had an open door policy for each practitioner regardless of their position. JWS organises many social events across the firm including the return of Friday night drinks outside office hours.

The flat structure is great for grads as you get to try out different areas of law and don't report to one person in particular. All the partners in the Adelaide office are really approachable and encouraging. The junior team all get along really well and support each other.
