Achieve more, enjoy more the Graduate Program for you

At KordaMentha we provide the opportunity to work on interesting and varied engagements where no two days are
the same. Sure, this is often said, but as an important member of a smaller sharply-focused team you get to be more than just a drop in the ocean.

When you join us as a graduate or vacationer, you’ll immediately become part of a unique, creative and entrepreneurial team that works together to solve complex business problems. You’ll be given the opportunity to engage in a supportive environment where you’re encouraged to ask ‘what if...?’ and ‘why not...?’ to find new ways to help clients grow, protect and recover value. Best of all, you’ll learn from a diverse group of people while we invest in your study and training.

But it’s not all about work. That’d make things way too dry. We host regular events and activities, bringing together our close knit team in a friendly and relaxed environment where you can have a few laughs and get to better know the people behind the professionals. You’ll also have the opportunity to make a positive difference in your community through regular charity and industry events and our community leave days.

There are two types of programs – a Vacationer Program if you’re in your second last year and a Graduate Program if you’ve already done most of the hard yards and are in your final year close to the finishing line.

Begin a career pathway from day one

Each year, we recruit a select number of bright, well‑rounded graduates and students in the final year of their degrees for our award‑winning graduate program. We also look for high-performing students in their second to last year for a four or eight-week work placement through our vacationer program which runs during the summer university break.

Rather than run the standard-type of the rotational program, we recruit graduates and vacationers directly into one of our specialist areas below based on your interests, skills and field of study. This way you can sink your teeth into your chosen career sooner. Life’s short – make bigger waves, earlier!

Restructuring

Our Restructuring group works with companies in financial distress – to restructure and stabilise the business or to recover value on behalf of stakeholders. Within our Restructuring group, you’ll work in creative project teams to manage Australia’s largest and most complex corporate restructures, receiverships, administrations and liquidations.

Real Estate

Our specialist Real Estate group advises on, developing and transacting real estate – their own, their clients and in conjunction with joint venture partners. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of property assets and will learn advanced property fundamentals from a passionate team with backgrounds in property development, sales, contract administration, funds management and investment portfolios.

Forensic

Our Forensic group uncover, analyse and clarify facts at the centre of disputes, investigations and other sensitive matters. They are one of the largest teams of forensic investigators and forensic accountants in Asia-Pacific and are regularly called on to provide evidence in sensitive, high profile disputes and investigations. Within our Forensic group, you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in complex, challenging and often high-profile projects involving forensic accounting, investigations and data analytics. Learn from the sharpest minds in the industry!

Forensic Technology

Our Forensic Technology group help to identify, preserve, analyse and present electronic evidence to assist in investigations and disputes. Whether it be personal computers, computer servers or even mobile phones, they identify the facts. You’ll work as part of a diverse team and learn the specialist skills and methodologies to become an expert in digital forensics and forensic discovery.

Financial Crimes

We help clients navigate the complexities of Australia’s financial crime regimes to ensure businesses understand what they need to do to protect the community against financial crimes. We believe the key to financial crime risk management and compliance is having a clear strategy and access to expert advice. KordaMentha partners with its clients to manage financial crime risk, undertake compliance reviews, provide advice and conduct investigations into alleged breaches.

Recruitment Process

Online Application

We ask for your resume, cover letter, academic transcript and a few application questions. We would love to hear why you are interested in KordaMentha and why you'd like to work with us.

Assessment Centre

Our Restructuring teams hold an assessment centre where we bring together a small group of candidates to participate in interviews and a group activity. It's a great chance to show us your teamwork and communication skills, as well as your analytical ability. You will also get the opportunity to meet some of our team. Our Data Analytics, Forensic, Forensic Technology, Financial Crime, Performance Improvement and Real Estate teams prefer face to face interviews.

Final Interview

If you are successful from the assessment centre, you will be invited to attend a final interview, which is usually held with a partner.

OPQ Personality Questionnaire

We may request some roles to complete an OPQ personality questionnaire. You will be invited to complete this if you progress to the partner interview.

Offer

Congratulations! You have been successful, and we'd love you to join the team. You will be sent an employment contract to review.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The best thing about working at KordaMentha is the collaborative nature of the work. It's a supportive workplace that allows you to form both personal and professional relationships with your colleagues. The collaborative nature of the work is not limited to individual service lines, with some engagements requiring collaboration from various service lines. In addition to the above, KordaMentha provides a supportive workplace that facilitates career progression.
  • I enjoy the type of work and forms of engagement I get to work on. I also enjoy the work environment - everyone is very open and including, and the teams are always cooperative and overall a good experience.
  • The exposure to different industries and variety of work. From the minute you begin, you are given the opportunity to learn different aspects of an engagement and encouraged to take ownership of certain tasks or sub-projects. Everyone is welcoming and willing to take the time to help you.
  • Great corporate culture. Opportunities for career development. High level of collaboration with work. Unity through the team (e.g. business analysts discuss ideas with partners, not having to go through a middle man).
  • Great team, nice office space, leadership always make an effort for you.
  • Culture - mutual respect regardless of whether you're junior, senior, or very senior.
  • Can be long hours when working onsite.
  • The occasional long hours, but even then, the work is interesting so I don't really mind it. Hard to see any minuses at all.
  • There are certain tasks which are required which are more administrative and therefore less interesting. But these are still worthwhile business skills to learn and only a small part of our work.
  • Workload inconsistency.
  • Difficult conversations with external stakeholders
  • The nature of the work is often negative, just given you are largely dealing with people who have suffered losses.
