The Landgate story

From our earliest beginnings when Western Australia’s first Surveyor General began to map the length and breadth of our great State, exploration has been part of our DNA. In today’s world, this means keeping innovation at our core and continuously striving for better ways of doing things.

Landgate is the guardian of property ownership in Western Australia and is the custodian of the State's location information asset. Our role underpins the economic security and prosperity of the State and citizens of Western Australia. We provide a secure land titles system, impartial land valuation services and authoritative location information – all vital to the Western Australian property market and the State's economy.

We are the State's trusted and respected source of location information, helping to inform important decision-making in government, business and the community.

We’re also all about our people and believe that by actively living our values, every member of the Landgate team contributes to making a bold, dynamic and visionary Landgate. As a graduate at Landgate, you have the unique opportunity to ask yourself ‘Where will your career take you?’ Come onboard and embrace Landgate’s way of working!

About our Graduate Program

Landgate’s Graduate Program is a structured program that offers an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and experience across several business areas, laying the foundation for a successful career. You will work on a variety of projects across the business which make use of your individual qualifications, skills, experience and interests. Additionally, you will work with people who value collaboration, flexibility and innovation.

Our program offers a highly competitive starting salary plus 9.5% superannuation.

Throughout the program, Graduates are provided with access to a variety of support mechanisms, including allocation of a mentor and ‘buddy’ to help you to adapt to a new work environment, as well as regular career development guidance, feedback and professional advice. Regular catch-ups with People & Culture (Human Resources), other participants in the program and Landgate Graduate Program alumni are also provided.

A structured development program will take place throughout the program, with Graduates participating in formal and on-the-job professional development tailored to their individual needs. The aim of the professional development program is to provide a combination of role-specific, organisation specific and whole of public sector knowledge and training, relevant to each program participant, and plenty of networking opportunities.

If you are an Australian Citizen or permanent resident completing an undergraduate university degree or have recently completed a degree, Landgate may be the place for you.  Check out our job advert for further details on our Graduate Program and the eligibility criteria.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The work environment is highly flexible, I am offered a lot of opportunities and am also able to take advantage and enable myself by picking up extra tasks as though I was a permanent team member. The majority of people are very open to communicating and assisting me, and I feel like there are a lot of people who are on my side and just as involved in seeing myself succeed. The company is very open about breaking down existing silos and is interested in striving towards continuous improvement from the ground upwards. Heavily relationship based, which forces you to communicate more frequently and openly when your projects affect others.
  • Self Managed Flexi-Time
  • The positive and friendly culture is the best thing about my organisation. The people have been welcoming and happy to lend a helping hand. For us graduates, there are also a lot of training opportunities available to us and my experience has been that people within the organisation are eager to allow you get involved in as much as possible.
  • My co-workers are very nice and are always willing to help me out
  • The flexi hours are fantastic. There is no stress about going to work 'late'. You can also choose to have a long day earlier in the week to have a shorter day later in the week.
  • I believe the best thing about working at Landgate is the culture. I have felt welcomed every time and people are easily approachable. In my experience so far, I haven't had issues with anyone and it's a smaller organisation which means it's quite easy to figure out what's where and who does what.
  • I enjoy the breadth and diversity of work at Landgate. It is great to have the opportunity to collaborate with different areas and functions of the business. I am constantly learning something new about what Landgate does and enjoy meeting new people, all of whom are friendly, supportive and passionate about delivering meaningful results for the business and state.
  • I believe Landgate is relatively diverse with a large number of women in leadership roles and in terms of employing people from diverse backgrounds.
  • It's a slower pace than companies I have worked for before, and while 80% of people tend to get back to me, there is the occasional 20% who don't respond to emails. In a graduate position, there is some uncertainty towards my employment once the program ends, and the program is shorter than most, running only for a year while many others go for 2+ years.
  • The work I do is often adding value but it's difficult to pin-point exactly where it aligns with the organisations long term vision and objective.
  • It's in Midland
  • If I had to be very picky, the quality of training could be better. My colleagues are extremely busy with their work which means I may have to wait a while before receiving some help in my training.
  • I believe there isn't a focus on customers/users of our products and services. I find it very difficult to relate what I do to how it better serves the organisation's customers.
  • One downfall of working at Landgate is the career uncertainty upon completion of the 12-month graduate program. Whilst it is interesting having the opportunity to complete rotations in different areas of the business, there is not a confirmed role for graduates upon the completion of the program. This causes some uncertainty in regards to career mapping. I love the day-to-day work at Landgate, my concerns often relate to future employment prospects within the business, which align with my qualifications and career aspirations.
