Pros & Cons

  • Great mentoring framework with ample opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Exposure to interesting work and technology that you wouldn't see in other industries.
  • The people are lovely and care about your learning opportunities. The managers are really friendly and facilitate flexible work arrangements where appropriate.
  • The engineering processes are difficult to follow when not familiar with them.
  • The technicalities surrounding the HR department
  • I enjoy some of the work but would like a more clear learning trajectory

Career Prospects
I believe there are avenues to progress within Raytheon, either in the technical expert route or the manager route. For the near future, I will be continuing the graduate program, then after the two years, will progress to an Engineer, then Senior Engineer, etc.

Culture
Great culture. Standard time commitments and everyone is really friendly and helpful. In my role, I regularly conversed and collaborated with the chief engineer and program manager even though from a hierarchical perspective are many 'levels' above me.

Office Work Environment
Great facilities and location, onsite car parking and great kitchens and bathrooms. The dress code is business casual but no strict rules on how employees are dressed.

Recruitment
This was followed with a assessment centre and individual interview on the one day. The assessment centre saw a group of candidates interact and try to solve a problem together. Questions were divided into two generalised topics; the first topic was cultural/team/personal responses and the second were technical questions.

Salary
I think for a graduate and considering the reasonable hours and expectations, the starting salary is quite good. The salary increases 6 months in. After exiting the graduate program, pay increases are development-based. The end of year bonus is only applicable if working since the first half of the year.

As long as your work hours are completed in the week, the company is flexible on when you work (ie. start early & finish late, attend an appointment and make up the time)
