Victoria's Big Build is generating thousands of local jobs for Victorians, in sectors ranging from construction and engineering to human resources and administration. As part of the Victorian Government's Local Jobs First policy, at least 10% of labour hours are allocated to trainees and apprentices. We partner with leading Australian and international construction and engineering companies to deliver Victoria's Big Build. We also partner with small and medium-sized local businesses. Construction partners are appointed following a robust and transparent procurement process for each project.
Steps in the recruitment process
You must have completed a degree or masters in an eligible discipline between January 2020 and January 2022. You must also have full Australian working rights at the time of application.
Applications: Open at 12 pm on Tuesday 9 March 2021 and close at 11.59 pm on Monday 12 April 2021.
You must complete the online application form, upload your CV, academic transcript and full Australian working rights.
Online assessments: April 2021
You will undertake an online cognitive assessment that takes about 20 minutes.
Video interview: April to May 2021
You will be required to record yourself answering a few questions.
Assessment centre and interview: May to June 2021
You will attend a virtual group assessment centre where you will participate in two group activities. In some cases, we may also request an individual interview.
Offers: June to July 2021
Before we make an offer, we will complete reference, police and qualification checks.
Programs start: 14 February 2022
Successful applicants are motivated and collaborative individuals with a passion for the transport and infrastructure industry.
You'll be employed full time at a VPS3 grade with a salary of $71,853 (AUD) + superannuation and 17.5% leave loading (effective from September 2021 – as per VPS EA 2020).
Each year, you'll be entitled to 20 days of annual leave and 15 days of personal leave.
Your workplace will depend on your ‘home’ project; however, you'll generally be located in Melbourne CBD. For those who wish, there may be an opportunity to work in regional Victoria, depending on project requirements.
On completing the program, you will be well-placed to apply for vacant positions within Victoria's Big Build or with our external partners.
