Eteroa Tusipepa Umaga Lafaele Namulauulu

What I love about my job is to be a bridge to communicate technical to non-technical. Translating and educating is the key and that is what I love to do.

In one sentence, What's your employer doing and what's your area of responsibility?

Xero - Lessssgooooo is an accounting software that helps make people's life easier WHOOP WHOOP!

My area of responsibility is 50/50

  1. 50% is where I look after App Partners with integration to XERO API. I speak at conferences about API's( Applications Processing Interface) and all things techie to help you all understand how it work #Teacher
  2. The other 50% is where I develop SDK - (Software Developer Took Kits) - I code these took kits to help you use the Xero API #Skuxxxx

What are you doing day to day in your role? E.g. what's a typical day, week, or project of yours?

Speak to CEO and Developers of Small Business and CODE #YASSSSSSSSS!!!!

Where did you grow up? E.g. If you are Māori, are you affiliated with an Iwi or Hapu?

I hail form the beautiful Islands of Samoa! My father is from Fogapoa Faasaleleaga in Savaii and my mother is from Leulumoega and Lefaga ,A'ana in Upolu. But I am born and bred in the place of Champion Cannons Creek, Porirua 5024.

But I also rep my partner’s iwi of Ngati Hine #PukepukeRau #Waiomo #Hineamaru

What would you say were the most important stages of your life? (school, work experience, people etc)

ALL OF THE ABOVE! This is a journey brothers and sisters and the struggle is real - each stage of my life was always important. Want to know more then join the talanoa!

How did you get to your current job position and how long have you been in the role?

By applying for the role and I've been in this role for 2 months but I've been a Developer for 2-3 years.

Is there any other person information you're happy to share that has shaped you/your life journey?

Aiga/Whanau and Friends - They are your team. Treat them well because they will be there through thick and thin. Also find yourself a mentor; they are key to help guide you in your journey.

If someone wants to do the same thing that you're currently doing, would that be possible if they're studying a different qualification/degree to you?

Yes - I did Uni and Dev Academy so I tasted the best of both worlds. You can do it and you can pick it up; it all takes 'HARD WORK" so come thru fam, we can do it.

What characteristics and/or skills would someone need to get into your line of work?

Communication, Problem Solving and to be YOU <3

What do you love most about your job?

What I love about my job is to be a bridge to communicate technical to non-technical. Translating and educating is the key and that is what I love to do.

For you, what's the biggest limitation in your job?

I would say the biggest limitation is that not a lot of people know what my job is and also there are not a lot Maori and Pasifika in the job.

  1. For me my community and family are important and to have them not understand what I do can affect the next generation of kids coming out of my community.
  2. This has been a trait from the moment I walked into Tech. Don't get me wrong I love the people but I want to see our people in here - People of the pacific sailing through these tech companies. We are born to be problem solvers and this is the place for us.
