Bachelor (Honours)
Build on your successes in the Bachelor of Creative Arts by completing Honours to enhance essential employability skills in research, independent thinking, critical evaluation and oral and written communication.
Honours fosters a spirit of excellence by taking the knowledge and skills gained in your undergraduate degree to the next level. It introduces advanced theory and practice in your chosen major and encourages you to develop your practice, think independently and become a risk-taker in your field of artistic inquiry.
You'll undertake a self-directed project supervised by leading practitioners from La Trobe's Department of Creative Arts and English. You'll learn to conduct research in a practice-led environment and to develop complex conceptual frameworks. You'll also develop advanced skills in making, writing about and presenting your work for a public audience. You can also choose to undertake a combined Honours year and gain expertise in two areas of study for a broad-ranging qualification.
By graduating with Honours, you'll not only gain an edge in establishing your artistic practice as a career, you'll also have the opportunity to advance to further coursework or research at Master's level or, for high achievers, direct entry into a PhD.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 8 - Bachelor Degree Honours.

Honours is also the best foundation for a postgraduate coursework degree, a higher degree by research or a career in academia. Complete the Honours program with distinction, and you could qualify for entry into the Masters by Research. If you're a high achiever, you could gain direct entry into a PhD.
