Technological advancements, such as intelligent interfaces, are moving from keyboards to touchscreens and voice commands, completely transforming the way we engage with machines, data and each other.Interaction Design (IxD) is the design of interactive products and services in which a designer's focus goes beyond the item in development to include the way users will interact with it. IxD is expanding rapidly and has applications across many platforms and industries including automotive, aerospace, banking, healthcare, gaming, manufacturing, information technology and more. La Trobe's Master of Digital Media (Interaction Design) will equip you with the knowledge and practical skills in this rapidly advancing field, learning how to create digital products that are human-centred, usable, uncomplicated and in-demand.On completion of this course you'll have mastered the technical skills and knowledge associated with the field of interaction design that includes programming, database and information technology fundamentals, user experience and design, design thinking and information visualisation. You'll gain experience working across multiple environments that include multimedia, interactive systems and other associated information technology. You'll also have the option to take electives in virtual reality, computer graphics, mobile and pervasive computing, artificial intelligence and deep learning as well as multidisciplinary studies in customer analytics, social media, and more. In your final year, depending on your interests and desired career outcomes, you can choose to complete either a project management subject, industry-based learning project or thesis. As a graduate of the Master of Digital Media (Interaction Design) you will be able to apply your knowledge in original and creative ways, empowering you to succeed in a variety of roles across multiple sectors.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9 - Masters Degree.
