About this course

The Certificate IV of IT Networking provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to install and manage small scale networks, either as an independent network support technician or as part of a team.

This one year course is aimed at developing the skills and knowledge of students that have little or no prior experience in this field. This could be school leavers or mature aged students looking for a career change.

The explosion of the internet, cloud networks, office networks, data security and associated technologies in recent years has led to a high demand for skilled workers in this wide and varied field. The Certificate IV of IT Networking provides an excellent entry point for a student to learn about, and become both knowledgeable and skilled in some of the fundamental aspects of IT Networking technologies.

These foundation skills taught in IT Networking include Routing and Switching, Server Administration, both Linux (open source) and Microsoft (propriety), client support, data security, python scripting and the testing and troubleshooting of networking issues.

The course is delivered on campus and in specialised classrooms, with “Lab” rooms equipped to simulate the workplace environment.
Students are also eligible to articulate into the Diploma of IT Networking upon completion of the certificate.
