Does GHD hire international students?

Steven Nield

Graduate Recruitment Lead

Answer: Yes, GHD hires international students for both our graduate program and our summer internship program.

For the summer internship, your normal student visa (e.g. 500) should be all you need to join the program and work legally.

For the graduate program, you don't need anything other than your normal student visa to apply. This means you can and should apply in your final year of study. You don't need to have your skilled migration visa (e.g 485) yet.

You will need to tell us what your working rights are in your application. We won't reject anyone based on this answer. Every candidate, regardless of citizenship or visa status, is assessed on the same basis. If you do get an offer, then we'll need to make sure you have a visa that allows you to work for the duration of the graduate program.

We offer fixed term contracts to international students who join GHD. We do this to make sure your graduate program end date lines up with the end of your visa (which gives you your working rights). This is an important step for us to make sure you can legally work in Australia for the entire duration of your graduate program. If you do get your permanent residency visa while you're still in your graduate program, then it's a pretty straight forward conversation with us for you to continue working on a longer term or permanent basis.
