Pros & Cons

  • The Cenitex graduate program has been instrumental in shaping my career in ICTproject management. Throughout my journey in the program, I have had the unique opportunity to immerse myself in the role of a project manager, taking charge of real-world small projects. What sets this experience apart is the chance to collaborate with major customers and various departments, offering me a diverse and challenging landscape to hone my skills.
  • All the staff here are really supportive.
  • The culture and the sense of responsibility for the work we do and how it impacts the people of Victoria.
  • The culture is really inclusive and supportive.
  • The working environment and the culture are great. As a graduate, it is flexible to change rotations among different teams. It allows you to explore the technology that you are interested in. Also, you are able to maintain a good work-life balance at Cenitex.
  • Job security. Other Grad programs offer immediate permanent employment but here at Cenitex they currently offer a 2-year fixed term employment contract first.
  • City parking can be expensive if you have to drive to the office.
  • Starting salary (little low)
  • I almost feel bad for working from home instead of going into work because we have such a nice office.
  • It takes time to get familiar with all the systems used in different teams. You also need time to understand the organisation structure as one process may involve a few teams at the same time.

As a graduate with a 24-month contract, it can take a while to be offered a permanent position near the end of the contract period. You are however always able to apply for any internal job opening at any time, The amount of time you spend in a team may not be enough to gain an permanent position there if you're new to the field. Funding of new opportunities also come into consideration but the best chances of securing an ongoing position present themselves near the end of the initial 24 month. Although you aren't guaranteed an ongoing ,they do try to and open up positions for you and usually most of the graduates will stay on with Cenitex except for those that aren't interested in the available roles.

Our company operates on a relatively flat organizational structure, which means that everyone's voice is valued, regardless of their position. We believe in open-door policies, encouraging team members to interact with leadership without hesitation. This approach promotes transparency, allows for quick decision-making, and creates an environment where innovative ideas can flourish. Building strong connections among our team members is a priority for us. Beyond office hours, we regularly organize social events and team-building activities. These range from Friday evening gatherings to sports tournaments, charity initiatives, and cultural celebrations. These events allow our employees to relax, bond, and build lasting friendships, contributing to a positive work environment.

We have a great D&I program at Cenitex. It consists of multiple working streams such as Disability, LGBTIQ+, Aboriginal, Gender Equality and Cultural streams. They invest a lot of time and effort in order to design, implement and deliver successful strategies, policies and events to imbed widespread Diversity and Inclusion throughout the business. The effort put into making these especially in the form of recruitment, they are recently also taking specific action to get early career employees and part time employees in. They even continuously look at their recruitment processes and how the attract candidates to minimise biases and help them achieve their D&I targets and initiatives. (There is a fair amount of editing on this one but none of them were well written at all. I have tried to fairly capture what the individual was intending to say.)

The Graduate Program assessment process is very smooth.. It's easy to communicate with the Talent team and the assessment morning is great. Although it's online, its an interactive session with Cenitex leaders and previous Graduates.

We are only required to come to office 2 days a week (not strict) and the working hours are quite flexible too (depending on the team and the agendas). They are more deliverables focused rather than hours of work.
