LGBTQ+ at Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR)

At DEWR, you will have access to a range of Diversity and Inclusion Networks designed to bring people together with shared experiences and interests.

Our department is committed to providing a respectful workplace that values the contributions of all employees. We seek to build an inclusive and safe culture where our LGBTQIA+ employees are supported.

Pride Network

The DEWR Pride Network strives to promote a safe and inclusive workplace for all employees, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, or relationships. The network organises activities, training and resources to promote sexuality and gender diverse workplace inclusion. The network is involved in helping shape the department's approach to workplace inclusion through policy advocacy and collaboration with other internal employee networks, community organisations and APS agencies.

The network offers a welcoming community and forum for sexuality and gender diverse employees and allies to come together to discuss challenges facing our community, meet like-minded people, contribute to diversity and inclusion initiatives and learn.

Pride Champions

DEWR’s Executive Diversity and Inclusion Champions play a key role in fostering an inclusive, respectful and positive workplace culture. They support Diversity and Inclusion Networks by advocating for cultural safety, competency, and change.

Our Pride Champions advocate for an inclusive, diverse, and safe workplace for all our people regardless of sex, sexuality, or gender identity. Our Pride Champions support our Pride Network by raising awareness and promoting initiatives that progress LGBTQIA+ inclusion within the department.

Pride in Diversity

We are a member of Pride in Diversity, the national not-for-profit employer support program for LGBTQ workplace inclusion specialising in HR, organisational change and workplace diversity.
