Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
We don't really have that opportunity currently, it's easier to move between wards/departments in the same level.

Ability to move into the area you desire and upskill constantly
Graduate, Gold Coast
There are plenty of things I could work on after finishing this graduate programme.
Graduate, Brisbane
Clinical Nurse Specialist, Hospital In-charge. Requires specific education for both roles. Limited opportunities at current workplace for advancement
Graduate, Warners Bay
I am happy with the opportunities that I believe are available however I have NO IDEA how to go about accessing them. In particular the EN to RN program where I can study at university to increase my skills which I am very interested in yet no one at the hospital seems to know how to go about this.

Despite almost two years here, I don't think I have progressed much in that last 20 months. I have skills and experience but I don't have any discernible pathway to advance my career or qualifications within the organisation. Consequently, I am considering opportunities with other employers.

I haven't had any career progression opportunities. I haven't been encouraged at all to seek post grad education. There is essentially no career progression opportunities available in theatre for at least 5 years I'd say
Graduate, Perth
I feel there are not a lot of opportunities to advance or areas to move into as the hospital is small and the comorbidities / surgeries not too complex. It is a good place to be at the beginning of a career, however.
Graduate, Brisbane
I think there are somewhat limited opportunities due to the size of the hospital BUT that also comes down to employee preference. Management are very receptive to conversation regarding this topic.

Can only move up if you're liked or if your friends with somebody

I am passionate about my role as a circulating and instrument nurse, and hope I can help better my work environment not only for my colleague but also for my patients.
Graduate, Perth
As a grad RN, this is yet to apply to me
Graduate, Perth
Not much promotion opportunities
Graduate, Adelaide
I have only started working for the company hence I have not required about these opportunities yet
Graduate, Brisbane
Unsure about promotion due to not being fully across the development pathway in this role. But I have been recognised for my efforts so far which is great.

The only progression from my position would require further study. When I was offered the graduate program the educator promised that further study would be an option (in terms of the hospital supporting me with time off for placements and study leave where applicable) but that educator left before I commenced and when I brought up further study, high management dismissed it and suggested that it would not be possible and that I should go for a less intensive course. I made my plans clearly known but at the time I had to reach out to the old educator and ask for advice. Now the company advertises scholarships to complete what I wanted to do 12 months ago which is frustrating. The only movement between roles is when the hospital is over staffed and if we don't take leave they threaten to send us to other facilities.

Limited career progression, especially for ENs, as they do the workload of RBs but get paid less
Graduate, Perth
I'm not sure. I do know that they offer some sort of scholarship for those wanting to do further study.
Graduate, Gold Coast
I am just happy with my position so far, though promotion opportunities are open to anyone
Graduate, Perth
Just doing team leader sometimes.
