We are searching for our very first cohort of interns here at the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP)!

Our brand new LXRP Internship Program is an immersive development experience that has been designed for anyone who is currently studying a tertiary qualification, or that has completed a tertiary qualification and hasn't managed to find a role in their chosen field of work.

The program will empower you, challenge you, and grow your skills so that you have a foot in the door when it comes time to kick off or sidestep into your career (woo hoo!) We are going to set you up for success and get you the experience you need to kick off the next step in your career journey.

Now onto the formalities…

We are looking for interns that have completed tertiary qualification, or are currently studying in the fields of:

  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Land & Property
  • Planning & Environment
  • Communications
  • Commercial & Legal
  • Human Resources
  • IT

These positions are six (6) month fixed term contracts, working between 23 and 40 hours per week (depending on your availability). The annual salary for this position is $55,439 plus superannuation, pro rata. Commencing in October 2024 - you can expect to finish the program in March 2025 with all of the skills and expertise you need in your career toolbelt (and don't worry … there will be a celebration to commemorate the occasion too).

The opportunity doesn't stop here! By the end of the six months, you'll be well-placed to apply for our Victoria's Big Build Graduate Program or an entry-level vacant position within LX.

What You Will Be Doing

We will be placing you into an established team here at LX and assigning you to a leader in the business that is set up and ready to help you get to where you need to be with your career development. With guidance and support, you will work closely with the broader team to:

  • Utilise effective communication skills to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders to build strong working relationships.
  • Support project teams to deliver key project milestones.
  • Work autonomously and as part of a diverse team with multiple, competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability whilst working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills to help influence outcomes.
  • Shadow members of teams at various meetings and negotiations.
  • Proactively contribute to the development of systems and processes.
  • Support a diverse range of project work.

You will also be assigned a buddy to support you as a peer throughout your time here - you can use them to bounce ideas off, chit chat to, or grab coffee with (it's up to you)! During the six months, you will receive career guidance and support so that you are ready to continue with your career in the corporate world. Yay!

What's In It For You

  • Access to tailored learning and development designed especially for you - we have made it interactive and fun!
  • Hands-on experience with industry leaders in one of the most successful and highly regarded infrastructure programs in Australian history. LXRP is a project that changes people's lives, and who wouldn't want to be part of that?
  • Build your network within LXRP and across the industry!
  • Make lifelong friends with the other interns completing the program with you - access to established intern chit-chat groups, regular catch ups and knowledge sharing because #SharingIsCaring
  • Support and career coaching at the end of the 6 months - get your CV and LinkedIn page looking snazzy!

We operate under hybrid working arrangements, which means you will be working between our network of offices and at your home. We will set you up with everything you need to work successfully in a hybrid capacity (i.e. phone, laptop, screens etc.). As an FYI - we tend to use office time for collaboration and fun stuff, and the home for the stuff that requires more concentration and deep thinking.

LXRP is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we strongly encourage and welcome folks from minorities, women, the disabled, First Nations, and all other qualified applicants to apply.

  • We offer and encourage flexible work practices and purchased leave arrangements for all our employees to support wellbeing, family or carer commitments or other personal circumstances.
  • We place great importance on growth, empowering our people to enhance their knowledge, capability and experience through continual learning, formal training and lessons learned.

How To Apply and What To Expect

Pre-register now and get notified once the application opens then follow the steps below.

If we've sparked your interest, feel free to submit your CV via the ‘apply now link. There will be some questions for you to answer in the application form, and as such you don't need to provide a cover letter or address the Key Selection Criteria at all. Simply submitting your CV and answering the questions in the form will suffice.

The questions in the application form that you will be required to respond to are:

  1. Which internship role are you interested in applying for?
  2. Why did you choose to study in the discipline/field at Uni that you ended up choosing? (Maximum 200 words)
  3. What interests you about working with us here at the Level Crossing Removal Project? (Maximum 200 words)
  4. What has been your proudest career or study achievement so far and why? (Maximum 300 words)
  5. Between October 2024 and March 2025 are you available to work between 23 and 38 hours per week?

Following your application submission, and answering the questionnaire, the shortlisted applicants will then be invited to participate in a virtual assessment centre! This will involve a group activity and a quick one-on-one interview.

The words "assessment centre" can sound a bit scary, but really … it's a chance for us to meet you all at once, you will get to meet a bunch of new people, and you can take part in a range of engaging virtual activities that we have designed (that will hopefully be lots of fun). We will ensure you have all the information you need to prepare and set yourself up to do well. If you don't have access to the equipment needed to attend a virtual assessment centre (ie. a laptop or smartphone with a webcam and stable internet) then please give Tara a call on the number at the bottom of this advertisement to discuss alternatives.

Our ‘preferred candidates will be notified shortly after the assessment centres conclude, and we will then begin the background checking process.
